Cerebras Systems, a provider of AI hardware, has announced plans to supply its CS-4 AI systems to Gimlet Labs, a startup focused on cloud computing. The deal, disclosed on Monday, involves hardware with the capacity to consume approximately 100 megawatts. Gimlet Labs intends to use this infrastructure to run advanced AI models, often referred to as frontier models, which require significant computational power for speedy operations like inference.
According to Gimlet CEO Zain Asgar, performing inference operations quickly is crucial for applications in cybersecurity, voice applications, and financial analysis. Gimlet plans to target companies and startups that build their products around AI. Cerebras CEO Andrew Feldman stated that the CS-4 systems would be supplied over one to two years, with Gimlet aiming to make the hardware available in its cloud by 2027. Feldman also highlighted the deal as validation of Cerebras's ability to deploy its hardware in heterogeneous environments, alongside systems from other companies.
Both companies declined to disclose the financial terms of the agreement. Gimlet Labs will assume responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the systems post-delivery.
