Canada pledges C$100 million in aid for Palestine

Canada announced a pledge of C$100 million in international assistance for Palestine. Prime Minister Mark Carney stated at the United Nations that C$80 million of this funding will be directed towards humanitarian aid to alleviate immediate suffering, while the remaining C$20 million will support peace and security capacity building initiatives. This new contribution brings Canada's total support for Palestinians to over C$500 million since late 2023. The funding is intended to address a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and rising violence in the West Bank, providing essential services such as medical assistance, food, and water, alongside peacebuilding efforts. Canada also co-launched the International Peace Fund for Israelis and Palestinians with the UK and Australia, committing C$1.8 million to support civil society organizations working towards peace.
