Barratt Redrow, the UK's largest housebuilder, has reduced its land acquisition targets for the current financial year, citing geopolitical events and rising build costs as contributing factors to a challenging market backdrop. The company now intends to approve between 7,000 and 9,000 plots of land for purchase, a significant decrease from its previous guidance of 10,000 to 12,000 plots. This reduction in land buying is expected to lower land expenditure to between £700m and £800m, down from an earlier forecast of £800m to £900m.
Despite these adjustments, Barratt Redrow maintained its forecast for total home completions for the full year, expecting to deliver between 17,200 and 17,800 homes. The company reported a solid third quarter with a resilient reservation rate of 0.64 private reservations per active sales outlet per week, excluding PRS and MUS, and 0.67 including these segments. Forward sales remain strong at 94% for FY26, amounting to £3.54 billion. The company also anticipates its year-end net cash position to be between £550m and £650m, approximately £150m ahead of previous guidance, due to the timing of remediation payments and reduced land investment. Barratt Redrow has also continued its share buyback program, deploying £33.3m through March 29, 2026.
