BGC Group's annual Charity Day has raised a record $14 million globally, with all revenues and broker commissions from the trading day donated to various charitable causes. Since its inception in 2005, the event has generated over $234 million in memory of the 658 BGC colleagues and 61 Eurobrokers employees who died in the 9/11 attacks.
The event, held on September 11, saw celebrity ambassadors including Ray Winstone, Hugh Grant, Lily James, and HRH Princess Beatrice participate in trading alongside brokers in London. Sean Windeatt, Co-CEO and COO of BGC Group, highlighted the unique energy and sense of purpose the event creates.
More than 60 charities in the UK are set to benefit, including Help for Heroes, Choose Love, and Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. For smaller organizations like HVH Arts and Grief Encounter, the funds represent a significant portion of their annual income, enabling vital projects and support for disadvantaged children and bereaved families.
The 2025 event spanned multiple global locations, including London, New York, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, São Paulo, and Sydney. This initiative stands out at a time when research from the Charities Aid Foundation indicates that 75% of UK businesses provided no charitable support in 2024, placing increased financial pressure on charities.
