Cem Karsan Called the Summer. Now He Says the Call Squeeze Ends Badly.

Cem Karsan @Kai-Media laid out a summer thesis on this show and it played out. He's back with what comes next — and it starts with why the VIX isn't doing what people expect at record highs. His read: the world is short S&P calls. Structured products and overwriters have compressed upside implied vol for months, and a rally this size forces them to buy those calls back. That's a call squeeze, and it's producing margin calls to the upside — something usually seen in single names and the AI complex, not the index. The evidence is in the skew. Zero-day options 100 points out of the money are trading flat — the upside and downside strikes at the same price, in an index that almost always carries put skew. Karsan argues the metric that matters is fixed strike vol, not the VIX, and that market-up-vol-up has historically been a poor setup for the following weeks. On the trade: sell late August, buy post-midterms. He also addresses the Situational Awareness blowup directly — and pushes back on the idea that it caused the rotation. 📊 tastylive: https://www.tastylive.com/ 📰 Get Tom Preston's pre-market analysis every morning: https://www.tastylive.com/newsletters 📘 FREE Options Strategy Guide: https://tinyurl.com/bp9ms763 📱 Follow tastylive on X: https://x.com/tastyliveshow #options #trading #investing #finance #stocks #stockmarket #marketanalysis #tradereducation #financialeducation #tastylive tastylive is a real financial network, producing hours of live programming every day.
