Beauty chain DNA Brands has agreed to give up to S$1 million in refunds to its affected customers. This, after Singapore's competition watchdog found that some of its employees used high-pressure sales tactics to induce customers to make purchases they never intended to make. Between August 2024 and October last year, the Consumers Association of Singapore received 53 complaints against DNA Brands. In some cases, its staff would keep customers in treatment rooms after their sessions have ended. Some elderly customers were even pressured into using CPF savings to pay for beauty packages.
