Sustainability and the Environment Minister Grace Fu says Singapore is keeping its options open on taking action under the Transboundary Haze Pollution Act. Enacted in 2014, the law gives authorities the power to take legal action against companies responsible for causing or contributing to haze pollution in Singapore. Companies found guilty can be fined up to S$100,000 a day, capped at S$2 million. The law applies even when the activities causing the haze take place overseas, covering entities operating both within and outside Singapore. However, no company has ever been fined or sued under the act.
