Vitalik Buterin: Hegotá upgrade to be Ethereum’s last ‘normal’ fork

Ethereum researcher Barnabé Monnot noted that offloading computation while verifying results onchain could significantly reduce the network's workload and facilitate lighter nodes. However, Monnot emphasized that critical records essential for applications should remain onchain to ensure user visibility and direct interaction without intermediaries.

Pseudonymous commentator Cryptographic suggested that this architectural evolution could broaden the capabilities of decentralized finance (DeFi) applications by enabling more complex computations to occur offchain, with Ethereum verifying the compliance of resulting transactions.
