Vietnam launched and inaugurated a record 234 major infrastructure projects across 34 provinces and cities on December 19, 2026, marking a significant national investment push. The combined value of these projects exceeds VND 3.4 quadrillion, approximately USD 130 billion, according to the Ministry of Construction.
The initiative encompasses 148 newly launched projects and 86 inaugurated or technically opened projects, covering a wide range of sectors including transport, urban development, aviation, railways, and public facilities. State budget funding accounts for over VND 627 trillion (around USD 24 billion) across 96 projects, with the remaining financed through non-budgetary sources like public-private partnerships and corporate capital.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over the central ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasizing the event's record-setting scale in total investment, private sector participation, and the capital scale of the Olympic Sports Urban Area project. Key highlights include the completion of Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, designed to significantly increase passenger capacity, and the inauguration of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway, enhancing regional connectivity.
Other notable developments include the groundbreaking for Vingroup's Can Gio coastal urban area, Vietnam's largest land reclamation project, and the technical opening of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway.
