Vietnam and Denmark have formalized a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership aimed at accelerating Vietnam's renewable energy sector, with a specific focus on offshore wind power. The agreement, signed in Copenhagen on October 19, 2026, seeks to leverage Denmark's expertise and Vietnam's resources to enhance competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
Under the partnership, Petrovietnam is set to play a key role in developing offshore wind projects, including the South Central Vietnam Offshore Wind Power Project 1, in collaboration with Danish firms like Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). Discussions also involved Vestas Group regarding increasing the localization rate of the wind power supply chain.
The Denmark-Vietnam Energy Partnership Programme (DEPP), now in its fourth phase (2026-2030), will continue to support Vietnam's green energy transition by focusing on long-term energy planning, renewable energy integration, and energy efficiency in the industrial sector, aligning with Vietnam's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
