Ahead of a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, more than two dozen Democratic lawmakers have urged President Donald Trump to keep in place a ban on Chinese automakers and their connected vehicle technologies from entering the US market. The lawmakers, led by Representative Debbie Dingell, stated in a letter that they "urge you to maintain strong protections against Chinese automobiles and connected vehicle technologies and ensure that China does not gain access to our market through direct imports, local production, and other avenues of circumvention."
Earlier in September, Trump had told Fox News that he would accept Chinese car companies building cars in the United States.
