Ukraine's Kyiv issues air raid alert amid reports of Russian strikes

Elsewhere in Ukraine, the second-largest city of Kharkiv was attacked by drones and two missiles, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov. One woman was injured in the Kharkiv attack.

Earlier this week, Russia launched a significant barrage of hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles across Ukraine, killing 23 people and wounding 130. President Zelenskiy stated that intelligence suggested another large-scale attack was possible on Tuesday night and urged citizens to heed air raid alerts. He also reiterated Ukraine's need for more air defense supplies, noting that current levels were insufficient to intercept a significant portion of incoming missiles. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called for tougher sanctions on Moscow and increased military support from partners.

On Friday evening, Russia had also launched missiles toward Ukraine, prompting air raid alerts across multiple regions and reports of explosions in Kyiv and near Bila Tserkva. Ukrainian authorities warned of incoming cruise missiles and urged residents to seek shelter.
