The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on June 30, 2026, that Russia has sustained approximately 1,403,550 troops since the full-scale invasion commenced on February 24, 2022. This figure includes 1,350 casualties reported in the preceding day.
In addition to personnel losses, the report detailed significant equipment attrition for Russian forces, including 12,067 tanks, 24,851 armored combat vehicles, 45,040 artillery systems, and 436 aircraft. Ukraine's General Staff has withheld its own casualty figures, citing operational secrecy.
Independent analysis from Western think tanks, such as the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), indicates that Russian casualties substantially exceed those of Ukraine. A January 2026 CSIS report estimated Ukraine's total casualties between February 2022 and December 2025 to be between 500,000 and 600,000, with 100,000 to 140,000 killed in action. The report suggested a casualty ratio for Russia to Ukraine ranging from 2:1 to 2.5:1.
