This development follows an agreement between Toyota and Isuzu Motors Limited to jointly develop next-generation fuel cell route buses.
Production of the new bus is slated to commence in fiscal year 2026 at the Utsunomiya Plant of J-Bus, Ltd., an equal joint venture between Isuzu and Hino Motors, Ltd. The vehicle will utilize a flat-floor battery electric route bus platform developed by Isuzu, combined with a fuel cell system developed by Toyota. The companies aim to reduce costs by standardizing parts for both battery electric and fuel cell electric vehicles.
