SEOUL, Sept 27 (Reuters) - South Korea's military and the United Nations Command have initiated a joint investigation into a landmine explosion that occurred near the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) on September 21, injuring three South Korean soldiers. The blast happened as soldiers were clearing a patrol route in the western sector of the heavily fortified area bordering North Korea.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung attributed the explosion to a landmine. An investigative team comprising approximately 40 officials is searching the area where the blast occurred. Opposition lawmakers have urged for transparency regarding the origin of the device, with some suspecting it may have come from North Korea.
