Sky News expanded its strategic partnership with Arc XP, the media platform built inside The Washington Post and run by publishers worldwide, to provide the technology underpinning a new app and website targeted for launch by the end of 2027, according to a press release from the companies.
The agreement is part of Sky News 2030, which the companies described as a five-year transformation to become a video-first news organization. Sky News said the new app and website will put video at the heart of the offering, showcase more original reporting and give audiences more personalized ways to discover stories. The investment aims to deepen engagement with existing users and create new commercial opportunities, including premium and paid-for products.
Arc XP will provide its media platform, backed by AWS, to underpin the new platforms, including tools for mobile apps, video and personalization. The expanded agreement builds on existing work on Ask Sky News, an AI-powered conversational search experience. Sky News said it generated nearly 4.5 billion social video views in 2026 to date, and that video views on its app more than doubled year on year.
David Rhodes, Sky News executive chairman, said the partnership would give audiences more reasons to come directly to Sky News and deliver more personalization and better commercial outcomes by the end of next year. Matt Monahan, Arc XP president, said more people now find news through AI summaries and search results instead of going to the newsroom that did the reporting, and that Arc XP helps newsrooms win those audiences back.
