Securitize has launched tokenized equities on the Solana blockchain, offering investors direct ownership of U.S. stocks with preserved rights. Announced on Wednesday, the Securitize Stocks product initially features 12 prominent U.S. companies, including Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Google, Tesla, Meta, Amazon, and Netflix.
Unlike many offshore products that merely track stock prices, each Securitize Stock token is backed one-to-one by an underlying share. This backing represents a security entitlement under the Uniform Commercial Code, ensuring investors retain benefits such as dividends and, where applicable, voting rights. The company stated that the underlying shares will not be lent out, and holders can convert their entitlements into actual registered shares if the issuer supports it.
Carlos Domingo, Securitize's chairman and CEO, emphasized the goal of bringing equities on-chain while maintaining the investor protections and market infrastructure of U.S. capital markets. Trading will initially occur on Securitize's registered broker-dealer platform on Solana, settling in the USDC stablecoin, and will be accessible to eligible investors in the U.S., European Union, and other permitted jurisdictions. Jump Trading will serve as the market maker during extended hours, with plans for 24/7 trading.
The launch enters a competitive landscape for tokenized stocks. Securitize's own shares have been trading on Solana since its NYSE listing in July. Rivals, including Coinbase, the NYSE, and an OKX-ICE venture, are also developing tokenized stock offerings. Securitize's tokens are expected to eventually trade on the NYSE's planned 24/7 venue and the OKX-ICE tokenized-securities venue, though these platforms are not yet operational.
