Schoolboy sentenced to four and a half years for stabbing teacher

A 16-year-old boy has been sentenced to four and a half years in youth detention for stabbing his teacher, Vicki Williams, in the head with a kitchen knife. The incident took place at Milford Haven Comprehensive School in Pembrokeshire after the student asked Williams to check his homework.

During the sentencing at Swansea Crown Court, Judge Thomas stated there was a "significant degree of planning" and that "time stood still" for the victim. Williams recounted that the attack "came out of nowhere" after the boy closed the classroom door behind him and then produced the knife from his bag. She described the look on his face as "pure hatred" and believed she was dying.

The boy, who was 15 at the time of the attack, had pleaded guilty to possessing a bladed article on school premises. He denied attempting to murder Vicki Williams but was found guilty of wounding with intent. His defense stated he had made "excellent progress" since being in youth detention and was of "clean character" prior to the incident.

Williams, who will begin therapy for PTSD, expressed her ongoing sadness, anger, and guilt, and her fear for her daughter. She questioned why she and her colleagues, who work hard, deserved such an attack, stating that leaving teaching should have been her choice. CCTV footage showed the teenager running away from the school after the attack.
