Russia resumed its drone attacks on Kyiv on September 9, killing one person and injuring at least 16, including two children, in daytime strikes. The attacks damaged residential buildings in two districts of the capital, with a fire breaking out in a nine-story building in the Dniprovskyi district and another in a 24-story building in the Darnytskyi district. A warehouse in the Dniprovskyi district also caught fire following a drone crash. The air-raid alert in Kyiv lasted for over six hours.
Separately, Ukraine's military intelligence agency stated that Russia plans to conduct final tests of a new ballistic missile with a range of up to 800 kilometers by the end of 2026, aiming to intensify missile and drone strikes to push Ukraine into a socioeconomic crisis. The agency also called for tighter sanctions to cut Russia off from foreign components.
In a related incident, Moldovan President Maia Sandu condemned an overnight Russian drone strike on the Starokozache international border crossing between Ukraine and Moldova, which killed two civilians and injured three others.
