Ripple is expanding its tokenization capabilities on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) through strategic investments in two companies: Zilo and Licuido. Zilo provides global transfer agency asset solutions for wealth managers, while Licuido is a UK Financial Conduct Authority-regulated tokenization solutions provider. These investments are intended to enable the use of tokenized funds as collateral from the point of issuance, addressing inefficiencies in traditional capital markets related to idle collateral and slow settlements. The move follows a recent collaboration where Aviva Investors launched a tokenized share class of its US Dollar Liquidity Fund on XRPL. Ripple also recently launched Ripple Mint, a platform for managing its USD-pegged stablecoin, RLUSD. The XRP Ledger currently holds $368 million in tokenized real-world assets, ranking it 11th globally, with Ethereum leading the market.
