The Post Office is considering a bid for Notemachine, one of the UK's largest independent ATM operators, as it looks to expand its cashpoint network. Notemachine's parent company, Brink's, is selling the business to satisfy regulatory concerns arising from its $6.6 billion acquisition of NCR Atleos. Brink's purchased Notemachine in October 2022 for nearly $180 million. The UK's Competition and Markets Authority had warned that the merger could reduce ATM choices and potentially increase fees for consumers. Brink's agreed to divest its ATM units, and in early October, stated that the CMA accepted this remedy. Notemachine operates thousands of cash machines and supplies approximately 20% of all cash dispensed in the UK.
