The Post Office is reportedly preparing to table a bid for an ATM operator as part of its strategy to expand its cash machine services. The company is exploring options for both managed services and the supply of new hardware for its ATM and multi-function deposit (MFD) network.
The tender documents indicate a need to support an existing network of approximately 1,400 ATM devices, with a potential increase of up to 500 machines. Additionally, the Post Office is looking to support a range of MFDs for cash dispensing and deposit, anticipating 400 devices by early 2028, with a further potential increase of 400 devices thereafter. The scope of managed services includes telecommunications infrastructure, software upgrades, cash withdrawal and deposit functionalities, balance inquiries, PIN management, and multilingual capabilities.
The company is also considering the outright purchase or leasing of new ATMs and MFDs for its network and for Banking Hubs, with potential volumes of up to 1,000 ATMs and 500 MFDs. The process will explore full turnkey solutions, including ATM switching and driving services, as well as hardware maintenance, consumables, training, and physical security measures.
