Max Meyer outdueled Paul Skenes, allowing one run in six innings and stranding nine runners, as the Miami Marlins defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 on Sunday. Meyer (7-0) surrendered six hits, walked three and hit a batter while striking out nine. Skenes (6-6) gave up home runs to Heriberto Hernández and Joe Mack in the second inning, falling to 0-4 in his last six starts. He struck out 10 and allowed four hits with one walk in six innings. Miami took two of three games from Pittsburgh, extending their winning streak to seven of eight and 10 of 12 in June. Hernández opened the scoring with a 403-foot home run, and Mack added a 424-foot homer to put the Marlins up 2-0. The Pirates responded in the fourth with three consecutive singles, with Jake Mangum driving in Nick Gonzales. Meyer then retired the next three batters, including strikeouts of Jared Triolo and Spencer Horwitz. In the fifth, Meyer hit Tyler Callihan with a pitch to load the bases, but Mangum's sharp liner to right-center was caught by Jakob Marsee on a diving catch.
