French police probe possible sabotage in train derailment that injured 44

Authorities in northern France are investigating the cause of a passenger train derailment that occurred Friday evening. The incident, which injured 44 people, including one critically, is being examined for the possibility of sabotage. A fragment of rail was discovered on the tracks, and its presence is currently unexplained. The train was traveling between Rouen and Caen with 186 passengers aboard when the derailment occurred near Cléon, south of Rouen. Emergency services, including approximately 140 firefighters, responded to the scene. A passenger described the event as "shocking," with jolts and shattering windows. The train driver has tested negative for drugs and alcohol.
