One killed in drone attack on vessels in Taganrog Bay, Russian authorities say

One person was killed and four vessels, including a methanol tanker, sustained damage in a drone attack in Taganrog Bay of the Sea of Azov, Russian authorities reported on Saturday. Yuri Slyusar, governor of the southern Rostov region, stated on Telegram that a seaman on a technical support vessel died and offered condolences to the family. He also confirmed that the vessels suffered varying degrees of damage but there was no risk of a methanol spill.

Slyusar further reported that more than a dozen drones were destroyed during the repulsion of the air attack on the region. The Russian Defence Ministry stated that air defense units had downed a total of 178 Ukrainian drones over various regions overnight. On Friday, fires erupted at two fuel depots and at the Taganrog sea port as a result of drone attacks.

According to unofficial information from local sources, two tankers suffered serious mechanical damage and fires broke out on board. The crews were evacuated immediately, and rescue teams continued to control the fire on one of the ships. The governor of the Rostov region added that two people were slightly injured.
