SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Yonhap) -- North Korea fired an unidentified projectile toward the East Sea on Saturday, South Korea's military said. The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it detected the launch, without elaborating.
The latest launch came just 13 days after the North fired two short-range ballistic missiles from the Wonsan area toward the East Sea within hours of each other on Sept. 20.
North Korea did not specify what the weapon system was but stressed the test, carried out by the General Missile Bureau, was "of significant importance for advancing weapons system technology," with the North's leader Kim Jong-un watching, according to the report.
