Israeli airstrikes killed at least seven Palestinians in two separate attacks in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to the territory's health officials. The Israeli military stated it targeted militants in the attacks.
In Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike on an apartment killed one woman and wounded her husband and several others. The military said this strike targeted a Hamas militant planning attacks against its forces. Medics reported another Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City killed at least four people and wounded 14 others. Additionally, a strike near a mosque in Khan Younis, south of the enclave, killed local journalist Mohammad Al-Najar and wounded others. Later, an airstrike near Qarara town in the southern Gaza Strip killed one person, bringing the day's death toll to at least seven.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on all of the latest strikes. Israel has increased its strikes on Hamas in recent weeks, stating the group has been rearming and launching attacks in violation of an October ceasefire. Hamas denies these accusations and claims Israel is undermining a Gaza peace deal.
Negotiators remain deadlocked in indirect talks regarding US President Donald Trump's post-war plan for Gaza, which aims to end over two years of fighting. Since the October ceasefire, Gaza health officials report at least 1,400 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, while Israel states four of its soldiers have been killed by militants in the same period.
