Nibulon, a prominent Ukrainian agricultural company, has expanded its solar power generation capabilities by installing solar power plants at three more of its grain elevator branches: Bessarabian, Zolotonosha, and Denykhivka. This brings the total number of elevators equipped with their own solar generation capacity to five, representing more than 20% of the company's total elevator capacity.
Each of these new solar power plants has a photovoltaic module capacity of up to 350 kW. They are equipped with Huawei inverters and utilize bifacial solar panels rated at up to 620 watts each. These grid-connected facilities are designed to operate either from the external power grid or in conjunction with diesel generators, ensuring operational continuity during power outages. Depending on the operating mode, each solar power plant can meet between 25% and 50% of an elevator's electricity requirements.
The company stated that developing its own solar generation allows Nibulon to reduce its reliance on purchasing electricity from the market and to feed surplus electricity back into the grid. Furthermore, operating the solar plants alongside diesel generators helps to decrease fuel consumption during both scheduled and emergency power interruptions. This initiative is part of Nibulon's broader decarbonization strategy, with plans to equip 30% of its elevator complexes with solar power plants by 2030.
