Levoit air purifier targets pet odors and fur with specialized filtration

Levoit has introduced the Vital Pet Pro Air Purifier, a new device specifically engineered to combat the challenges of pet ownership, such as pervasive fur and lingering odors. Priced at $189.99, the purifier aims to offer a more targeted solution than standard air cleaning units.

The Vital Pet Pro incorporates a three-stage filtration system. This includes a washable pre-filter to capture larger debris like pet hair, a main filter designed for smaller particles and dander, and an activated carbon filter containing 140 grams of carbon to neutralize odors. A distinctive U-shaped air inlet is also featured, intended to efficiently capture airborne pet hair and particles while maintaining good airflow and preventing filter clogs.

In testing, the purifier proved effective at collecting fur and trapping debris. While direct verification of the claim to remove up to 70% of odors within an hour was not possible, the reviewer noted a considerable improvement in room freshness. The automatic cleaning technology, which removes accumulated hair from the pre-filter into a tray, was highlighted as a practical feature.

Additional functionalities include companion app modes like Auto Plus Mode, which adjusts performance based on real-time air quality monitoring, and Pet Mode, which alternates between high-speed particulate capture and quieter, energy-efficient air quality maintenance. Air quality is indicated by a color-coded system (red for bad, orange for moderate, green for good, cyan for very good) rather than a numerical display.
