Two sold-out concerts by the artist formerly known as Kanye West, now Ye, in St. Petersburg, Russia, have been canceled after weeks of uncertainty. The Moscow-based organizer, Say Agency, announced the cancellations on Telegram, expressing regret and promising ticket refunds. The shows were scheduled for October 10 and 11 at the Gazprom Arena.
Gazprom Arena had previously posted about the concerts but later stated it had not signed a lease agreement for the stadium, stressing it was not responsible for the booking. Russian officials had also voiced strong opposition to the planned performances. Foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova deemed the shows unacceptable due to Ye's past controversial remarks, including alleged glorification of Hitler. Politician Nikolay Novichkov called for an investigation into the musician.
