The appointment of a new head of human resources at a major financial institution like JPMorgan Chase signals a shift in leadership for employee strategy, talent management, and corporate culture during a period of significant technological and geopolitical change.
JPMorgan Chase has appointed Mark O'Donovan as its new head of human resources, effective January next year, according to a memo from CEO Jamie Dimon seen by Reuters. O'Donovan will succeed Robin Leopold, who plans to retire in the first quarter of 2025 after more than 16 years at the bank.
Dimon credited Leopold with guiding the bank through the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical shifts, and the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence. O'Donovan, currently the CEO of international consumer banking, will join JPMorgan's operating committee and relocate from London to New York for the role. He brings 30 years of experience at JPMorgan, having previously served as chief financial officer of the Commercial & Investment Bank, CEO of Chase Home Lending, and CEO of Chase Auto. Daniel Llano Manibardo, currently head of international consumer banking for Germany, will take over O'Donovan's current role.
