Prosecutors have decided not to bring proceedings against a 34-year-old Iranian man who was arrested on March 19, 2026, for allegedly attempting to enter the UK's nuclear naval base at Faslane. The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service stated that after careful consideration of the facts and circumstances, including the available admissible evidence, they have decided that no proceedings will be taken against the man at this time. However, the Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available.
The man was arrested along with a 31-year-old woman from Romania following the incident. The Royal Navy has previously confirmed that two individuals unsuccessfully attempted to enter the base.
Faslane, formally known as HM Naval Base Clyde, is located about 25 miles (40km) north-west of Glasgow. It is the home of the UK's nuclear-powered submarine fleet, which includes the four Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarines that carry Trident nuclear missiles, as well as the Astute-class attack submarines.
