- Developer K&K Property is cooperating with the Buildings Department investigation.
Hong Kong authorities have ordered developer K&K Property to inspect eight additional houses and a common area at its One Stanley luxury estate following a scandal involving substandard construction. The directive comes after a buyer discovered significant structural anomalies, including up to 75% fewer steel reinforcing bars than specified in approved plans, in a villa purchased for HK$115 million in April 2024. Independent engineers and the Buildings Department confirmed deviations from structural designs, though the department stated the defects do not currently pose an imminent danger. Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu pledged strict enforcement and severe penalties for violations.
