Gwyneth Paltrow faces backlash for Israel real estate advert

Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow is facing intense backlash for appearing in a promotional video for a luxury real estate development in Israel. The advert, for the 51 Park development in Herzliya, north of Tel Aviv, has been widely condemned on social media platforms.

Critics have labelled Paltrow's participation as 'tone deaf', 'complicit', and 'disgusting', particularly in light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis. Many commenters have cited the displacement and deaths of Palestinians near the development site.

Several public figures have also voiced their disapproval. Activist Alana Hadid described the campaign as 'tone deaf' and 'complicit', while influencer Matt Bernstein called the level of 'greed and depravity' incomprehensible. Livia Giuggioli, ex-wife of Colin Firth, announced she had cancelled Paltrow's upcoming visit to her farm in Italy, stating that her participation in the ad was 'completely unacceptable'.

Paltrow, who has not yet publicly addressed the criticism, was raised in an interfaith Jewish-Christian family. The advert has led to comparisons with other celebrities facing scrutiny for business dealings related to Israel, such as Leonardo DiCaprio's co-financing of a luxury eco-hotel in the country.
