Google makes switching password managers easier on Android

To utilize the feature, users initiate the process within their chosen new password manager app. Android then identifies other password manager applications installed on the device and facilitates the secure transfer of data. Users are presented with a review step before approving the migration, which can be completed in a few taps. This method also ensures that passkeys do not need to be re-established on the new platform. The company stated that this approach mitigates the security concerns associated with using CSV files for data migration. The functionality is already live with several partner applications, including 1Password, Bitwarden, and Dashlane, with plans to expand support to more services in the future. The feature requires devices to be running Android 8 or a later version.
