Ferrari announced on Tuesday the appointment of Massimiliano Di Silvestre, the current President and CEO of BMW Group Italy, as its new chief marketing and commercial officer. Di Silvestre is set to join Ferrari's leadership team on July 1, reporting directly to CEO Benedetto Vigna. He replaces Enrico Galliera, a long-serving executive who spent over 16 years with the luxury sports car maker.
The management transition occurs shortly after Ferrari's recent unveiling of its first electric vehicle, the Luce. The launch of the five-seat EV has been met with significant criticism, particularly on social media, concerning its unconventional design and the company's move away from its traditional petrol-powered engines.
Ferrari stated that Di Silvestre brings more than two decades of international experience in the premium and luxury automotive sector, with expertise in business transformation and commercial development. Vigna expressed gratitude to Galliera for his "extraordinary contribution" and role in strengthening the Ferrari brand globally.
