Croatian Member of the European Parliament Romana Jerković announced on Thursday that she is stepping down from her national party, the Social Democratic Party (SDP), following a report that her friends and family attended a taxpayer-funded event at the European Parliament. Jerković, who is part of the Socialists and Democrats (S&D) group, was facing a disciplinary investigation by the SDP. Party leader Siniša Hajdaš Dončić had sought to open proceedings with the aim of expelling her.
