Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) has secured a £280 million refinancing package as the extensive regeneration project moves towards its final stages. The 42-acre site, centered around the Grade II* listed landmark, has already welcomed over 40 million visitors since its opening in 2022.
Leading construction firm Sisk has been awarded the contract for Phase 3C of the development. This phase involves constructing two new buildings designed by Gehry Partners, which will complete Electric Boulevard, the new pedestrianised high street. These buildings will add approximately 300 new homes, 65,000 square feet of commercial space for shops, cafes, and restaurants, a 15,000 square foot Community Hub, and an expanded bike hub with 600 free spaces.
Construction for Phase 3C is slated to commence in summer 2026. The project is expected to generate around 400 construction jobs, with a target of 20% of the workforce being from the local area, a goal that has reportedly been exceeded in earlier phases. The new buildings will extend Gehry Partners' existing Prospect Place development, which features the only residential buildings in the UK designed by architect Frank Gehry. Sustainability is a focus, with green roofs and a minimum 10% biodiversity net gain planned for the new structures.
James Saunders, CEO at BPSDC, stated that the appointment of Sisk is a significant milestone in realizing the vision for the site, particularly in completing Electric Boulevard. Steven McGee, COO at Sisk, expressed pride in being selected for the iconic project, highlighting Sisk's growing capability in the UK residential sector and its expertise in modern construction methods.
