Albanese warns of climate inaction costs at UN Climate Week

Albanese outlined his government's "ambitious but achievable" target to reduce emissions by 62-70% on 2005 levels by 2035, expressing confidence that Australia will achieve this goal through a mix of renewable power and gas. He also pointed to Australia's leadership in home battery installations, with Australians installing ten thousand batteries weekly, totaling over half a million in the past year.

Furthermore, Australia is providing support to Pacific nations affected by the climate crisis. This includes A$100 million for the Pacific Resilience Facility and the REnew Pacific Program, which aims to deliver climate-resilient classrooms and clean energy and water to Vanuatu, Fiji, and Kiribati. Albanese claimed this program has "directly improved 300,000 lives."
