Chip and Joanna Gaines are selling their extensively renovated 135-year-old castle in Waco, Texas, for nearly $2.7 million. The property, known as Cottonland Castle, was purchased by the 'Fixer Upper' stars in 2019 after Chip had desired it for over two decades. They documented the restoration process for their Magnolia series, 'Fixer Upper: The Castle,' completing the work in 2022.
Previously, the couple attempted to auction the castle in July 2023 through Magnolia Realty in partnership with Concierge Auctions. However, the sale did not proceed, with Magnolia stating at the time that a prospective buyer and the company mutually agreed not to close, and the property would remain with Magnolia. Following this, the castle reopened for tours.
On June 18, the Gaineses listed three Waco properties through Magnolia Realty, including the castle for $2.699 million. The other listings are the Hillcrest Estate for $1.7 million and the Gristmill for $935,000. Magnolia Realty indicated that the timing is right for these properties to begin new chapters as the company explores new opportunities in the hospitality space.
