Hundreds of vehicles were stranded for several hours in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Saturday after a massive landslide near Lasana blocked the vital NH-144. Intense weather conditions were cited as the cause of the obstruction.
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) teams, in coordination with the local administration, launched a swift operation to clear the debris. After approximately five hours of work, the road was reopened for general traffic, allowing the stranded vehicles to proceed.
Separately, light rain was observed over Dal Lake in Srinagar, with the India Meteorological Department forecasting continued cloudy skies and potential rain or thunderstorms in the region until Sunday. Earlier in the week, forest fires had broken out in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, attributed to heatwave conditions.
