Supreme Court to rule on Yoon's obstruction of justice charges July 9

South Korea's Supreme Court is scheduled to issue a ruling on July 9 concerning charges of obstruction of justice against former President Yoon Suk Yeol. In a separate development, a special counsel has indicted a former chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The indictment relates to alleged involvement in a martial law declaration. Concurrently, a special parliamentary committee focused on investigating ballot shortages from the June 3 local elections conducted its inaugural on-site inspection. The inspection took place at a Seoul gymnasium that had been blockaded by protesters for 27 days. During the inspection, lawmakers confirmed that ballot boxes and voting logs were stored within the gymnasium. However, they also raised concerns regarding the security measures in place at the site.
