‘We can’t trust the state’: Judge sides with Christa Pike’s lawyers in execution battle

CNN Reporter Ryan Young examines a court fight over jurisdiction and evidence as Christa Pike’s lawyers push for greater access to her in hospital and challenge the state’s handling of the case following her failed execution. “A lot of people in the court were still paying attention to every little detail here, especially when they talk about the preservation of all the evidence,” Mr Young told News24. “In this case, there was a back and forth about who actually had jurisdiction over it. “What the lawyers for Crystal Pike were trying to say is like, look, we can't trust the state at this point. “These lawyers are fighting to get more of a chance to see her more often in the hospital.”
