News24 Defence Analyst Peter Jennings predicts the world will see a “tougher economic bite” coming from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in 2027. The one that we were expecting in the first half of this year, but we didn’t actually see, but sooner or later the strangulation of oil coming through the Strait of Hormuz will have to have an economic impact,” Mr Jennings told News24 host Jaimee Rogers. “If the Strait remains closed, as I expect they will for months and months to come, this is going to result in more serious economic problems as we move into 2027.”
