‘History repeating itself’: Damning warning exposes politicians ignoring security advice

Former New South Wales Police minister David Elliott warns security agencies have repeatedly sounded the alarm only for governments to ignore their advice. “Modern history is littered with security agencies’ warnings to governments and governments turning their backs,” Mr Elliot told News24 host Jaimee Rogers. “History is repeating itself right here right now. “Unfortunately, that advice can only be acted on by politicians, and politicians are more worried about the next vote. “We need to depoliticise security.”
