Hamas leaders reportedly told the White House they remain committed to disarming and demilitarising Gaza in a surprise breakthrough. Jared Kushner pressed the terror group for concrete action during a 90-minute meeting in Egypt, warning words alone would not cut it. The group reportedly agreed it would surrender its weapons, military infrastructure and governing authority under Trump’s Gaza peace plan. Kushner made clear disarmament was non-negotiable as Israel remains deeply skeptical Hamas will actually follow through on its promises. Hamas also reportedly agreed to transfer power to a Palestinian technocratic government with no role in governing Gaza. The development could clear the way for the next phase of Trump’s 20-point peace plan, including a permanent ceasefire and reconstruction.
