News24 host Paul Murray has strongly criticised Race Discrimination Commissioner Giridharan Sivaraman for opposing Strathfield Council’s move to require English on shop signs in the community. “Australia's race discrimination commissioner, Giridharan Sivaraman, describes the move as an example of ‘systemic racism in operation’, and says he's worried it could lead to similar moves by other councils,” Mr Murray said. “If you say that English should be part of the sign and then somehow it's up to anyone that speaks anything but English, no. “You can have both; the point is when you dont have both then you end up in a scenario where you’re not able to interact, and if you don’t interact with each other then you can’t be stronger together.”
