Andy Burnham criticised for ‘unserious’ handling of border crisis

​Spiked Chief Political Writer Brendan O’Neill criticises UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham for his “unserious” handling of the border crisis. ​“Almost 1,500 people crossed illegally into England over the past seven days, primarily men from Eritrea, from Ethiopia, from Afghanistan, undocumented men who will now be in four-star hotels somewhere in the country, doing what they like pretty much,” Mr O’Neill told News24 host Jaimee Rogers. ​“There is no nation in history that would have tolerated the arrival of so many men every single week and not done something about it. ​“All that Andy Burnham is doing is making TikTok videos about which beer he likes to drink and whether he prefers The Smiths to Oasis. ​“He’s not taking seriously the border crisis. ​“He’s indicative of the paralysis of government in the modern era where they can’t get a handle on these basic problems.”
