Thailand is making the case for a "calibrated re-engagement" with Myanmar. This is in contrast to ASEAN's wider stance of keeping leadership that emerged after a military coup in 2021, at arm's length. Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul says channels for dialogue with Myanmar must be maintained, even as ASEAN pushes for progress towards peace under a Five-Point Consensus. Anutin says there are signs that this approach is working. Myanmar leader Min Aung Hlaing is set to visit Thailand later this week. CNA's Myanmar and ASEAN correspondent Leong Wai Kit reports.
