Singapore to push for stronger action against haze as 2027 ASEAN chair

Singapore will work with ASEAN member states to strengthen efforts against transboundary haze when it assumes the ASEAN chairmanship in 2027, said Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu. Responding to parliamentary questions on Tuesday (Nov 3), Ms Fu said these efforts will include working towards the establishment of a regional haze coordination centre in Indonesia and tackling the root causes of land and forest fires. She added that some ASEAN member states have indicated they will raise the transboundary haze issue at upcoming ASEAN meetings.
